Meet The Team

Russell Zahn, the owner of our practice, graduated from the University of NSW with a Bachelor of Optometry in 1987, and in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science (Physics). After working for five years in full time/locum positions, he established Russell Zahn Optometrist in 1992. Through his work in the practice, Russell enjoys making a difference to his community and helping people navigate through the visual stages of their lives.

Russell is a registered member of the Optometry Board of Australia and is also qualified in the detection and screening of diabetes. Additionally, Russell has a Graduate Diploma in Ocular Therapeutics (2012), meaning he is clinically endorsed to treat and prescribe medication for ocular diseases. Russell is also a laser sight centre accredited optometrist which means he is qualified to co-manage refractive surgery.

In addition to his optometry and science qualifications, Russell also holds a Senior First Aid Certificate, as well as a SLSC Gold Medallion and Assessor.

Rebekah Barnes is a recent addition to our practice. She has been practicing full scope Optometry since graduating with a Master of Optometry in 2015. She has a special interest in ocular surface diseases and therapeutics. Her passion is being able to deliver eye care to suit her patient’s lifestyle particularly in the digital world.

Practice Manager Sue Skaines has over 20 years experience in the optical industry.

Paige Bates has worked here for over 11 years. She completed her optical dispensing training in 2010.
